The Coolest Memory

What a wild adventure! In March, I spent a long weekend in the Northwest Territories of Canada to chase the Aurora. I traveled to 62.4° North among friends and family of friends, in an all-women, five-person crew.

An Aurora Author

Everywhere I go, I meet people who tell me how much my advice helped them to catch the Northern Lights. I’m not a professional and I don’t hold a Ph.D. in heliophysics, and there are undoubtedly larger personalities they could learn from. It is such a surprise that my modest advice could help so many….

Expressive

A word for 2025. I resolve to be more soulful and creative, to express myself outwardly on the paths I aspire to most.

What Kind of Aurora Chaser Are You?

How would you describe yourself as an Aurora Chaser? If you really get into Aurora Chasing, I think it helps to determine what your goals are while you are pursuing the Northern Lights.

Books, Books, Books

So many book ideas, so little time! Imagine chasing the solar eclipse. I’m excited to dive deeper into creative writing and bring these ideas to the world.

Passion Projects

A creative individual, I draw a lot of inspiration from nature, the night sky, the written word, and the many talented people who cross my path.

“Thirsty for the Marvelous”

“I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn’t impress me.” — Anaïs Nin

Chasing the Aurora: A Blog for Newcomers

In many parts of the world, night falls and all one has to do is look up to witness the magnificence that expands out into the atmosphere and beyond the edges of our world. In other parts, it’s not so easy.

Whistling on a Mountain

If one happens to be out alone at night under the Aurora Borealis and hears a whistling sound, one has only to whistle in return, and the lights will come closer out of curiosity.

#PoetNotes: A Series

New ideas are flowing for #PoetNotes, a series of my poetic musings on social media. I don’t always have the time it takes to compose a new poem, which led me to jot down these notes. Mostly on Instagram, these pieces of inspiration appear across social media channels. Follow me on Instagram. A selection of…

“Only those who risk going too far can possible find out how far one can go.” — T.S. Eliot

Rare Beauty

Wonders of the night sky and rare natural phenomena have inspired a lot of my creative writing, especially in fiction. These pieces feature elements of the night: Aurora Novel, my debut novel based on Northern Lights Milky Way Novel, a work in progress featuring Milky Way mythology BlackJack, a short story of magical realism Crossing…

Whimsy & Wanderlust

With so much natural beauty, I’ve always dreamed of traveling the U.S. Now, I hope to turn my dreams into reality, and visit as many national parks as I can.

Pure Michigan

One of my goals in life is to visit as many state parks and national parks as I can. After setting out to travel more in Michigan, I decided to jot down which state parks I’ve visited and try to see them all!

Publication

Many pieces of my creative writing have been selected for literary journals and an excerpt of my novel was published in an anthology. I also had the honor of publishing two books, with the most recent book releasing in 2020. It’s exciting to have my creative work appear in print! New! “Social Gap Experiment Anthology”…

Now Unfiltered

The gloves came off. I removed the mask. And I bared myself to the hemlock trees. Unfiltered.

Launching the Solar Orbiter

“We’re going to make beautiful science.” Nothing captures the launch of the ESA Solar Orbiter better than the words of NASA’s Dr. Nicola Fox. As a NASA Social Media Ambassador, I had the honor of attending a live launch.

Painting the Light

After submitting to a gallery, I’m excited to share that several of my paintings were selected for exhibition and publication!

“Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson My late brothers would have turned 20 on February 19, 2018, but it’s my hope to carry their light into the future. Inspired by the twins, I wrote my first…

Embracing A Creative Expansion

When in the presence of the Aurora, three main phases occur that hint at what’s to come: Onset, expansion, and recovery. On my own journey, it seems fitting that this season has been one of expansion.

Breathe…

In strange times, remember to breathe. Hold onto hope and light, and stand strong in your virtues.

Can You See Aurora through Clouds?

Under the relentless cloud cover of our northern winters, a question has been circulating in the Aurora Chasing community. “Can you see the Northern Lights through the clouds?”

A New Year; A New Adventure

It’s the travel, growth, and most of all, the people that make a year unforgettable. I’m thankful to know so many talented and insightful humans, and to be published alongside them. Looking forward to the year ahead!
