It’s the travel, growth, and most of all, the people that make a year unforgettable. I’m thankful to know so many talented and insightful humans, and I’m excited for the adventures to come!
As the pursuit of my passion kicks into high gear, I took some time to redesign my website. Now, I’d like to share the beautiful new design with you, parts of which have evolved out of our collaboration and community spirit. When you visit my redesigned website, you’ll find a homepage filled with guides, books and videos, as well as a personal touch where you learn about how I’m chasing my dreams.
I’m really excited to share these new corners of the website, which have truly blossomed in the last year or two:
- An all-new page to share my personal adventures
- My favorite Aurora Chasing hacks & guides
- The Aurora advice blog
- Creative writing and my Publications
- Writing resources for the writer in you
These updates come just as my new piece is published in Amateur Astronomy Magazine! I wrote an article titled “Historic Aurora: Severe Geomagnetic Storm Lights Up the World,” and collaborated with many regional photographers to get their stunning images published alongside the piece. It’s a beautiful retelling of the May 10th, 2024, which will go down in history.
In another fantastic effort commemorating that historic display, I’m honored to be named in the new academic paper that was released in December, “The Gannon Storm: citizen science observations during the geomagnetic superstorm of 10 May 2024”. I submitted photos and details of the Aurora captured May 10-12, 2024 as a citizen scientist — work anyone can contribute too. Now, I’ve been named in my first academic paper! How cool is that? Learn how you can participate.
Amidst the excitement of the new year, I’m gearing up for a new schedule of events for the coming year! The News and Events page has some great features, and a growing list of events that will take me around the state and the country.
It surprised me as I pulled this all together — the international Aurora Summit, the new Michigan Aurora Chasers website that I built in 2024, the gorgeous writing, videos and photography! What surprised me even more was looking back on where I’ve been and how far I’ve come — gazing upon paintings, NASA rocket launches, my own short stories, past road trips and writerly insights. Even my amazing pup, Elio, the Sun Dog, found a spot in the design!
If you’re interested to check it out, come on over! The new design features amazing photography and countless ways for you to connect or get involved in these inspiring adventures. Thank you for your encouragement and support over the years!
I wish you all the best in 2025. May you have an inspiring, uplifting and transformative New Year!
